Mental Health Concerns Among Senior Citizens
The journey of aging brings with it a unique set of challenges and concerns, particularly regarding mental health. As we grow older, it's natural to encounter fears and anxieties that can impact our well-being. Things that will be addressed in this group:
Fears of Aging
Aging can be accompanied by a fear of losing friends and family, leading to feelings of loneliness and isolation. It's essential to recognize these emotions and seek meaningful connections, whether through community activities, support groups, or technology that bridges distances.
Physical and Mental Limitations
As physical and cognitive abilities change, seniors may experience frustration or anxiety. Embracing a proactive approach to health, such as regular exercise and mental stimulation, can help manage these concerns and maintain a sense of independence.
Anxiety About Health
Health concerns often become more pronounced with age, leading to anxiety about one's well-being. Regular medical check-ups and open communication with healthcare providers can alleviate fears and ensure a comprehensive understanding of one's health status.
Dealing with Regrets
Reflecting on life may bring up regrets or unresolved issues. It's essential to approach these feelings with compassion and seek ways to find closure, whether through counseling, journaling, or open and honest conversations with loved ones.
Living Fully Without Fear of Death
While the inevitability of death is a common fear, focusing on living fully in the present can provide comfort. Engaging in activities that bring joy, setting new goals, and nurturing relationships can enhance the quality of life and diminish fears of the future.
At Inner Strength Counseling, we are committed to supporting the mental health of seniors through compassionate and personalized care. By addressing these concerns with empathy and understanding, we can help our older population lead fulfilling lives, free from the burdens of fear and anxiety.
The group will meet every other Monday at 10 AM, starting November 3. The cost is $40 per session. If you are interested in attending, please email me your name and let me know that you will be joining the women's group. This will help us accommodate everyone.
Personal Growth Counseling offers personalized counseling for adults. I utilize Person-Centered Therapy to build a strong therapeutic relationship. We prioritize creating a safe environment and providing unconditional positive regard to support your self-discovery and personal growth.
Counseling is designed to facilitate change, and we incorporate Solution-Focused Therapy to encourage you to develop new ways of thinking, behaving, and interacting with others. This ultimately leads to a healthier lifestyle. Behavioral Therapy may also be used to reinforce positive behaviors through rewards.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps you adopt adaptive thinking patterns that can alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety, fostering a greater sense of peace. Furthermore, I utilize Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) tools to enhance your distress tolerance, regulate emotions, improve interpersonal skills, and practice mindfulness—all aimed at helping you find a life worth living.
Additionally, I offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to assist you in recovering from traumatic experiences by processing these events, reshaping your relationship with them, and uncovering meaning within them. The therapy methods described above can be tailored to meet your unique needs, along with various other approaches as necessary.

I assist clients in overcoming depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and past trauma.

I am here to help clients through difficult times, such as divorce, grief, or lifestyle changes. My goal is to assist them in navigating these challenges so they can find a life filled with purpose and meaning.

I help clients discover healthy coping skills to enhance their lives and stabilize their emotions.
